Your Wedding - Marriage Measure Act 2008

A couple can marry in a church in this Benefice if one of them:

- Lives in the parish or is on the church's electoral roll

 

They can also marry in church if one of them:

- Has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or:
  Has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months or:
  Was baptised in the parish or:
  Was prepared for confirmation in the parish

 

They can marry in church if one of their parents, at any time after they were born:

- Has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or:
- Has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

 

They can marry in church if one of their parents or grandparents:

- Was married in the parish.

 

If none of the above applies, couples can still marry in one of our parish churches if:

- They qualify for a Special Licence
- They qualify for a Common Licence
